What should I do if my toilet won't flush but is not clogged?

If your toilet won’t flush and there’s no clog, check the tank hardware and water supply. Open the tank and:

  • Make sure the water shutoff valve is fully open.
  • Reattach or shorten a loose handle chain.
  • Ensure the flapper seals and isn’t warped.
  • Raise the float so the tank fills to the fill line.
  • Clear mineral buildup on the fill valve. We handle toilet repairs and upgrades in Nashville and Brentwood with licensed plumbers.
